News alert: National News Literacy Week is Jan. 24 28, 2022

What: The third annual National News Literacy Week will offer a variety of ways for educators, students, journalists and the general public to get involved, virtually or in-person, all related to this year’s theme: Stop the flood of misinformation…care before you share. Events will include Twitter chats, professional learning sessions and webinars.

A detailed news release will be distributed Monday, Jan. 24.

When: Jan. 24 – 28, 2022

Why: This annual event underscores the vital role of news literacy in a democracy and provides audiences with the knowledge, tools and abilities to become more news-literate. It also aims to inspire news consumers, educators and students to practice news literacy and to strengthen trust in news media by reinforcing the role of credible journalism in our public discourse.Who: This week is targeted to educators, journalists and the general public. It is presented by the News Literacy Project and The E.W. Scripps Company.Where: Visit NewsLiteracyWeek.org to learn how you can get involved in National News Literacy Week.
