After a 40-year journalism career Jim founded WaVe Communications, a writing, editing and consulting business, in 2015. Before that Jim was a White House correspondent for the Associated Press for five years. He joined AP in 2006 and spent several years as a national political reporter covering money and the media, with a special emphasis in 2008 on fundraising and corporate influence at the political conventions. Early in his career he spent 15 years as a reporter for the Kansas City Star, rising to become Washington bureau chief, and then became an editor and a national correspondent for Knight-Ridder Newspapers’ Washington bureau, where he worked for eight years.
