Vikas covers business and international economics for The New York Times editorial board. Before that he was a correspondent for the Times in Mumbai, India, where he wrote primarily about economic and business issues from spring 2009 to November 2012. He was previously based in New York and covered housing and financial markets from June 2006 to March 2009. Vikas joined the Times in 2005, after working at The Dallas Morning News. He was born in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) and grew up there and in Bangkok, Thailand. Vikas was vice president of the South Asian Journalist Association, a New York-based group, from 2005 to 2007.
