Jim is an editor for digital initiatives at The New York Times, overseeing the development of online content and services in such areas as business, technology, health and style on NYTimes.com. He has held numerous positions since joining the paper in 1995, including deputy magazine editor and deputy culture editor. As deputy business editor, he handled the paper’s coverage of the Enron scandal. He also served as Sunday business editor and enterprise editor of Business Day. Previously, he was a reporter and editor at the Los Angeles Times, where he edited a series on Prudential Securities that won the George Polk Award for financial reporting and a series on health maintenance organizations in California that was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
