Ginger is a print and multimedia reporter at the New York Daily News, where she mostly works the rewrite desk but also handles enterprise and investigations. Prior to joining The News, she worked for several years at the New York Post, and prior to that she was a freelance radio and print reporter, doing assignments for the Associated Press, the BBC, Newsweek on Air and other national and international publications. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese and has extensive experience reporting from Latin America. Ginger is the author of "Firefight: The Century-Long Battle to Integrate the New York's Bravest," an in-depth look at the struggle of black firefighters in to break into the ranks of the Fire Department of New York (the FDNY), which has been more than 90% white for almost 150 years. "Firefight" was published in June 2015 by St. Martin's Press.
