Neil Budde is the vice president and executive editor of The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky., a publication where he also worked early in his career as a reporter and editor. Budde has more than 35 years of experience in news and media with the past two decades focused on the transition to digital. He was founding editor and publisher of The Wall Street Journal Online, vice president and editor-in-chief at Yahoo! News, and president and chief product officer at DailyMe Inc., a start-up focused on delivering personalized news and information. Before returning to Louisville in September 2013, he spent 17 months as chief executive officer of AxisPhilly, a collaborative project of Temple University’s Center for Public Interest Journalism and the William Penn Foundation. His journalism career also includes stints at the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch and USA Today.
